Using magnetoelastic technology instead of strain gauges or a similar method, causes or sensors to be more compact and less expensive.
BoltSafe force cells measure load across the entire surface of the ring instead of using just a few pressure points.
Calibration is done once inside the sensor, which means there is no calibration needed on the side of the readout method. Not even when you’re switching between readout methods!
BoltSafe sensors are drift free and have almost no creep effect. A maximum deviation of 1% of the full scale is assured after factory calibration.
They are able to withstand very low and high loads from 18 kN to 3000 kN and send out only digital signals.
Meeting the IP66 rating makes them dust free and water resistant.
Our force cells can be coupled with a variety of readout methods to suit various situations, wishes and applications.
Bolt load sensors
BoltSafe bolt load cells are specially designed to monitor the bolt load in bolted joints. Knowing this information enhances safety, makes joints more dependable and results in better control over bolted constructions.
BoltSafe bolt load cells can send their data to different readout methods. We offer the following: the Handheld Reader, Network with PDI, Network with PDI-NT, RS-232 and Analog Converter and the IoT-node.

A force cell is a force transducer that measures tension, compression, torque or pressure forces that are applied to the cell. It converts a force into an electrical signal that can then be measured and standardized. Applying a force to the force cell creates proportional changes in this electrical signal. This enables users of the force cell to read and record the data. There is a variety of force cells available in the market, whose inner workings differ based on the chosen type. All cells that are able to measure some kind of force can be considered force cells. The most commonly used types use either strain gauges or piezoelectric technology, but other technologies are also possible. No matter which technology is chosen, force cells are very popular and widely used, because they can measure forces very accurately. This is highly convenient in many fields and industries, wherever there is a demand for accuracy and precision. Most force cells are used in combination with a readout method or Data Acquisition System (DAQ) to monitor and visualize the measured forces.

BoltSafe offers a special kind of force cell that is able to measure and monitor bolt load in bolted constructions, both during assembly and over time. BoltSafe uses magnetoelastic technology, instead of strain gauges or piezoelectric technology. With this technology, the changes in the magnetic field are measured. Using BoltSafe sensors ensures better safety, gives better control over the construction and makes joints more dependable. A BoltSafe force cell is placed on the non-driven side of a bolted connection, preferably under a nut. When the bolt is tightened, forces are applied. This causes minor deformations on the stainless steel washer. These deformations result in changes in the electrical resistance, which our sensors can measure. This is the data we use to determine the bolt load at any given moment.
Examples of applications of our force cells are for Structural Health Monitoring and in temporary constructions, where they make sure that the construction doesn’t collapse. Other applications in various industries where load and forces have to be accurately measured are also possible.
