BoltSafe offers a special kind of force sensor that can measure and monitor the bolt load in a bolted construction very precisely. They can be used both during assembly and over time. In contrast to most force sensors in the market, BoltSafe uses magnetoelastic technology instead of strain gauges or piezoelectric technology. Instead, our sensors measure changes in the magnetic field. Using BoltSafe sensors enhances safety, makes bolted joints more dependable and assures better control over the bolted construction.
Our force sensor is placed on the non-driven side of a bolted connection, preferably under a nut. When the bolt is being tightened and force is being applied, a minor deformation of the stainless steel washer occurs. These deformations cause changes in the electrical resistance, which our sensors constantly measure. This data is used to determine to bolt load at any given moment. BoltSafe force sensors are also suitable for use in temporary construction, to monitor the load in the construction. This way, they make sure that the construction doesn’t collapse. We offer two kinds of bolt load sensors: CMS (for continuous bolt load monitoring) and PMS (for periodic monitoring).
