BoltSafe wireless load cells are more compact and less expensive than other technologies such as strain gauges, because we use magnetoelastic technology.
The sensors send out only digital signals and can be used with very low and high loads from 18 kN to 3000 kN.
The load is measured across the entire surface of the ring instead of using just a few pressure points.
Calibration of our wireless load cells is done inside the load cell, which means there is no calibration needed at the end of the readout equipment. Not even when switching between different readout methods!
BoltSafe sensors are drift free and have almost no creep effect. We assure a maximum deviation of 1% of the full scale after factory calibration.
The sensors meet the IP66 rating, which makes them water resistant and dust free.
BoltSafe wireless load cells are specially designed to monitor the bolt load in bolted joints. Knowing this information enhances safety, makes joints more dependable and results in better control over bolted constructions.
BoltSafe wireless load cells can send their data to different readout methods. We offer the following: the Handheld Reader, Network with PDI, Network with PDI-NT, RS-232 and Analog Converter and the IoT-node.

A wireless load cell is, as the name indicates, a load cell that operates wireless. A load cell is a force transducer, which is used for measuring force. It does so by converting force into an electrical signal, which can then be measured and standardized. This enables the users of the load cell to read and record the measured data. Wireless load cells are available in different versions, whose inner workings differ based on the chosen type of load cell. They are able to convert many different forces such as torque, tension, compression and pressure. The electrical signal changes proportionally to the force that is applied to the load cell. It is a widely used product in many industries, because the ability to measure weight and other forces very accurately is in high demand. Because of this, (wireless) load cells find their application in many fields and situations, wherever there is a demand for precision and accuracy. There are a couple of well-known technologies on the market for load cells, but not all of these can be used wirelessly. Examples of these technologies are strain gauges and piezoelectric technology. BoltSafe uses magnetoelastic technology, where the sensors measure the changes in the magnetic field. We offer a variety of readout methods to couple up with our wireless load cells, some of these are able to offer a fully wireless experience.

Wireless load cells by BoltSafe are specifically designed for measuring and monitoring bolt load. They are mostly used in bolted constructions, both during assembly and over time. Knowing the bolt load gives better control over the construction, makes joints more dependable and enhances safety. Place a BoltSafe wireless load cell on the non-driven side of a bolted connection, preferably under a nut. Tightening the bolt causes forces to be applied to it. This results in minor deformations of the stainless steel washer. These deformations enable our sensors to measure the changes in electrical resistance that are caused by these deformations. We use this data to determine the (bolt) load very precisely at any given moment.
We offer two types of bolt load cells in our product range, the PMS sensor (periodic measuring) and CMS sensor (continuous measuring). The first one is read out wirelessly by a probe which is connected to our handheld reader. The second one can be coupled with our IoT-node, a small device with its own power supply that sends out the measured data to the cloud using LoRaWAN. This data can be read out with any device connected to the internet using a web-based application dashboard. Both are wireless load cell solutions, where the first one requires presence on-site and the second option doesn’t. Our wireless load cells can be used for many different purposes, examples are for Structural Health Monitoring and in temporary constructions. Here they are used to keep the construction from collapsing by measuring the load on critical elements.
